I come from the Lamtáama (White Bird), Lookingglass and Chief Joseph Bands and reside in Qém'yexp (Kamiah, Idaho).
My name is Alexis Walker, and I am running for NPTEC Seat 3.
I was born and raised here in Qém’yexp, rooted in the Walker, Bohnee, and Axtell families. I was raised with the teachings of our elders—respect, responsibility, and service. Those teachings aren’t just words to me—they are the standard I live by.
Our Tribe deserves leadership that shows up, takes responsibility, and follows through.
My life has prepared me for that responsibility. As a person in long-term recovery, I have learned that real change doesn’t happen by chance—it takes honesty, discipline, accountability, and a community willing to stand together. That is the kind of leadership our governance needs right now.
I don’t wait for change—I work for it.
I serve as an independent contractor strengthening tribal programs, as a member of the Nez Perce Tribal Resolutions Committee, and on the Boys and Girls Club Committee. I don’t just talk about solutions—I help build them.
I bring 20 years of experience in tribal government, including more than a decade with the Nez Perce Tribe. My background in Human Resources means I understand how systems are supposed to work—and I know how to fix them when they don’t.
I’ve worked across our nation—in Fisheries, Early Childhood Development, Nimiipuu Health, and NPT Enterprises. I’ve seen our strengths, and I’ve faced our challenges alongside you.
My connection to our people extends beyond my work. I strengthen my roots by traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest to play stickgame, learning from the matriarchs in my family about our first foods, and continuing as a lifelong learner of our Native language and history. These are not just traditions—they are responsibilities I carry with me.
At the community level, I bring people together—hosting think tanks in Kamiah where Wisdom Keepers and Seekers turn concerns into action.
This is the difference:
Not just words—action.
Not just plans—results.
Not just leadership—accountability.
This is the leadership I bring to NPTEC Seat 3—leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.
